Forest Essentials

Ancient recipes for the discerning modern guest. India’s leading luxury Ayurvedic house, and one of the largest amenity brands in global hospitality.

Founded in 2001, Forest Essentials draws on a six-thousand-year Ayurvedic tradition and makes it legible to a modern guest. Products are hand-crafted using traditional methods, and the house formulates and produces everything itself rather than licensing it out.

It is not a boutique proposition. Forest Essentials supplies several hundred luxury properties worldwide, including Taj, Oberoi, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton, and operates its own retail estate across India, the UK and the GCC. Estée Lauder has held a stake since 2008.

For our region the fit is specific. A guest arriving in Dubai or the Maldives from India recognises the brand immediately; a guest arriving from elsewhere encounters something they have not met in every other hotel bathroom. Both reactions are useful.

The house has also moved decisively on packaging — refillable ceramic dispensers and bulk liquid amenities, rolled out across an entire hotel group — which puts it on the right side of the shift away from miniatures.

Where it fits

Properties with a story to tell

Spa-led properties

An Ayurvedic house gives a spa menu a coherent origin rather than a borrowed vocabulary. Body polishers, facial rituals and massage oils sit under one identity.

Indian Ocean resorts

A large share of guests in the Maldives and Mauritius arrive from India, and arrive knowing the brand.

Properties moving to refills

Refillable dispensers and bulk liquid formats are already established, not a special request.
